Today is a fresh new day, this night we woke up by incredible lightning and thunder. The baby had to be reassured and we all sheltered in our bed listening to the drip-drip of the raindrops going through our ceiling (no, roof not fixed yet, this is Mallorca). We woke up to a very fresh day, the temperature dropped 10 degrees to 17 this morning (don´t worry it is back to 24 now). All is like new, I can even see through my car window. Today is also the first day for Marina, who probably already saw her first light of day by now. I am eager to see her face, and I know that her parents must be very content to finally hold her. Here´s to fresh starts!
Lucas met his friend Mink for the second time, this time in Mallorca. The parents of Mink rented this idyllic cottage in the mountains and we went for a visit. The weather is still great but the predictions are awful for the weekend (when the big party is planned..)
Born the 23rd of May 12:10, Lucas!!!!!
The cesarian was a bit of a dissapointment, I would have liked a natural birth but this was the best option for his position (breech). And I had plenty of time to get used to the idea and in the end I am very glad we choose to get him before due date because apparently the space had run out already. We stayed 4 days in the clinic, a room with a view, where the nurses were a great help to start up the care for the newborn. But I was very glad to get home last tuesday. Since then the great adventure really started and we already got ourselves into hilarious situations like going the first time to the pediatric (routine visit) while not remembering how to unlock the wheels of the carriage. We ended up running (of course we were late) with wheels, baby and cradle in separate parts and assembling all (after 15 minutes trying) in the waiting room of the pediatric. You should have seen the faces of the people, hard to hide we are first time parents of only a week!!!! Crazy to think so much has changed in so little time:-) For friends & family there are pictures on Flickr...........
Here in Spain a 20-week scan is ´obligatory´ but anyway I would have gone. We went to a small private clinic (booked fully, called almost 2 months in advance!). Where they had a lot of time for us (unlike Palma Planas). They even count the fingers to see if all was okay!!! As far as they could tell, all was alright:-) I hope it stays like that because since this week I started a nervous spell (too much work, we do not have space for the baby, the house is a mess, etc.) and I am seriously anxious about the future. That trip to NL and the USA for instance. That really takes me close to a month from home and breaks my routine and I am really nervous for the talk in the US since the work for it is not progressing at all.
