We decided (or I in the case of Sinterklaas) to spend Sinterklaas in NL and Christmas in Italy. Since they stopped the direct flights to either place in winter this was not an easy flight. We only came over the weekend but it was nice, Lucas enjoyed all the presents and we (and he of course) also the company!
Sinterklaas, accompanied by his black Petes, has departed for the Netherlands. Here in Spain there is hardly a festive feeling; Christmas decorations are just up, the sun is shining and well.......... I feel a little left out of the celebrations. I haven´t had a single pepernoot (might try to bake some tomorrow, haven´t succeeded in anything good without a ´kant-en-klaar pepernootmix´ yet (which obviously they do not sell here)) but anyway. I feel uprooted. Nobody around me puts any importance in upcoming friday (such a good day to celebrate, friday) and I feel home-sick for my own culture. Of all celebrations I liked Sinterklaas best because of the nasty rhymes and the fun we used to have. Trust me, this doesn´t happen often, nor will last too long, but let me have my minute of whining on the net. Also it doesn´t help that I will not be celebrating new year with friends...... Although I am quite excited to pass the first Christmas (and 3 kings!) with Lucas. Not that he will notice, but I do;-)
Anyway, what about a families (as in: playing board games, drinking hot chocolate (with rum), some mild excursions, preferably playing in the snow, oliebollen and celebrating but not until 5am anymore) new year celebration next year? Anyone game?
